چکیده

This paper presents an overview of the advanced transport-based accounting management in IP networks with differentiated services (DiffServ). We first provide a survey and taxonomy of accounting management functions, including metering, pricing, charging, billing, payment and information provisioning. An overview of pricing models for DiffServ networks has been presented. We also consider IETF accounting management framework and accounting protocols. Finally, several advanced proposals for accounting management architectures in DiffServ IP networks have been addressed.

Secure, QoS-Enabled Mobility Support for IP-based Networks

The rising number of mobile users, the advent of various radio access technologies, and the increasing importance of IP services over wireless as well as wired networks pose a number of new challenges. While Mobile IP has been designed for mobility management in IP networks, it may result in high latency and signaling overhead during handoff. Thus, advanced mobility mechanisms improving Mobile ...

A Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...

Quality of Service in DiffServ IP-based Networks

This paper deals with the problem of quality of service (QoS) in DiffServ IP-based networks. A short review open system interconnection (OSI) framework is given. Then we focus on QoS from provider’s and costumer’s point of view, mainly based on DiffServ concepts. Also, we discuss QoS in IP networks. These networks promise convenient QoS-enabled communication. Finally, we analyze DiffServ in IP ...

Preventing DoS Attacks in QoS-enabled IP Networks Through Efficient IP Source Address Validation

Forging IP source addresses (spoofing) is a common technique to conceal the origin of a network level attack in today’s best effort IP networks. In the future, IP spoofing may also directly interfere with service agreements used in quality of service (QoS) enabled IP networks because policing mechanisms located in the core cannot distinguish between malicious and benevolent packets. This reduce...

A Scheme for Time-Dependent Resource Reservation in QoS-Enabled IP Networks

A number of distributed applications require communication services with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees. The QoS provisioning issue in the Internet has been addressed by the IETF with the definition of the Integrated Services (IntServ) and Differentiated Services (Diffserv) frameworks. Resource reservation mechanisms on which these models are based are totally timeunaware. Yet, we believe ...
